Legal periodicals contain articles about the law. These are helpful to researchers because they provide up-to-date coverage on current issues. Journal and law review articles specifically can contain in-depth discussion and extensive footnotes and cross-references. These are one of the best resources for students writing scholarly papers or dealing with a contentious question of law that has yet to be settled in your jurisdiction.

There are many different ways to search for and access legal articles; listed below are five of the most commonly used databases. All of these databases cover different publications and span different time periods, so searching only one is not comprehensive.
