Attorney Borrower Card

Attorneys must complete a registration form in person at the library to receive an Attorney Borrower Card.

Law firm staff members may use their supervising attorney's card to check materials out.

Loan Periods

  • Treatises and monographs - 28 days
  • Reserve materials - 2 hours
  • Law review & journals, looseleafs, multi-volume (3 or more) sets, reference books - library use only

Present your Attorney Borrower Card to the circulation desk attendant to borrow materials.

Reserve materials are located behind the circulation desk and must be used within the law library only. The reserve collection contains the most current hornbooks, general research aids, major topical treatises, North Carolina practice books, and audio CDs.

Circulating law library materials are subject to recall at any time. Revised due dates are communicated via email. If a recalled item is not returned by the revised due date, borrowing privileges may be restricted.

Overdue & Lost Items

Return all materials to the circulation desk by their due date.

A courtesy reminder is sent two days before an item’s due date. If the item is not returned, three overdue notices are sent.

After the third overdue notice, the material is assumed lost and a billing notice is sent. Patrons are charged a replacement fee of $75.00 or the current cost of the book if still in print. This charge is refunded if the item is returned.

* Reminder and overdue notices are a courtesy; failure to receive one does not relieve the patron of responsibility.

Renewals are granted for 28 days, unless a hold has been placed on the item by another patron. You may renew items by:
